ERROR ANDROID.SYSTEMUI

See the error "com.android.systemui has stopped," especially after some update, is very common. And when we talk about updates we refer to both applications and operating system as if installing a ROM.

Famous error that causes unexpected closures of applications, but in this case we will see what happens when the closure is the process that manages the graphical interface of the operating system.

What is the error "com.android.systemui has stopped"

If we have come to the case, which we do not wish, that you get the error "com.android.systemui has stopped," is that we have come to the case that we have modified something in the device, usually by some installation, update or Configuration, so that, as we have said, the process that manages the graphical interface of the operating system is stopping. Therefore, we can also find the error as "Unfortunately, the graphical system interface has stopped".

This error has to be solved, because this process is vital for the correct operation of the operating system. In fact, in most cases we will find the case that as we give the OK button, when trying to restart the process, it will fail again.

This will be indicated because we have made some modification in the operating system (with app update or operating system normally) that has caused that the code that manages the graphical interface becomes corrupted.

The first solution: Turn off Google updates

Before doing anything else, proceed to uninstall updates from the Google application, which is used to search. The process is the following:

Go to the settings of your mobile and look for the section "Applications".

Locate "Google Application" or "Google Search" and enter inside.

Click on "Uninstall updates".

If this does not work, try "Erase Data" from the same settings option.

In case you continue to skip the error, disable the Google application from the same menu above.

I get the error, and now what?

Suppose, unfortunately, the error still appears. The best way to solve this is by analyzing what we have done on the device just before this happened to us.

That is, have you installed any application for example launcher type? These applications when trying to manage the interface of the device, may have caused inconsistencies in the same, so conflicts end in failure. In this case, the best we can do is automatically uninstall the application that we believe could have generated the conflict.

Once this is done, we could try to reinstall it, or during the installation, a file of the operating system would be corrupted. But if it happens again, it is probably because the application does not work well on our device, taking into account the operating system version we have, among other things.

Have you touched required operating system files with root permissions? Many times we have talked about the benefits of being root, everything that allows us to do. And that's their main problem: with root we can do everything. Both as for well and for worse. So we could have deleted for example an odex file (the ones that use the apps themselves) in an attempt to clean space or remove remnants of an app, which however the operating system is trying to use. If so, it may be a good warning to be careful about using root.

Another example would be to uninstall apps that come from the factory in the device (thanks to root access), which are also necessary. In both cases, the solution is to try to undo what we did, for which we will reinstall the uninstalled apps.

It is also common that this error can appear after installing a ROM. If so, it is probably that we have forgotten something fundamental when installing a ROM: make the wipe, both the data and the cache. And it is precisely this process serves to clean the data, so that both data memory and cache are clean because we are installing a new version of Android from scratch, so that is how we avoid having corrupt data. If this has been your case, you should enter recovery mode and make the wipe and even reinstall the ROM.

Another option is to do a factory reset, which would leave the device as if it were factory.

Factory resetting the device is more than enough solution to avoid this problem, as long as we do not repeat the same steps that led to the error. But you must remember that you will lose the current state of the device!

And if it has ever happened to us, it is a good time to realize that there are processes, such as those with root permissions or the installation of ROMs, which are delicate processes and care must be taken to avoid this type from problems.

Has it happened to you? If so, what led you to error and how did you solve it?
